“Bridging health and social care” is the theme for Rare Disease Day 2019
Next February 28th the 12th edition of Rare Disease Day will be celebrated worldwide. As always, it is one of the most anticipated events of the year by our community.
The theme for Rare Disease Day 2019 is “Bridging health and social care”. It will focus on bridging the gaps in the coordination between medical, social and support services in order to tackle the challenges that people, living with a rare disease, and their families around the world face every day.
According to a recent European survey, 8 in 10 patients admitted having difficulties in completing daily tasks and 70% of patients and carers describe it as time-consuming.
Due to the success of Rare Disease Day 2018 edition, the interacting social media campaign #ShowYourRare will continue for 2019. People around the world can get involved during the month of February by painting face with the bright logo colours and sharing a photo using the hashtag #ShowYourRare and #RareDiseaseDay in solidarity with people across the world living with a rare disease. In addition, you can become a friend of Rare Disease Day to show your organisation’s support for the 2019 campaign by filling in this form. Other possibilities to be part of the 2019 campaign are posting your event by submitting this form, sharing your story with others or using the official Rare Disease Day ® 2019 communication materials for your social networks or events.
From Rare Commons we recommend you should get involved actively in Rare Disease Day campaign and take part in the events posted on the website to increase associations', patients' and carers' visibility.
