SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital will host the second one-day seminar on the Rett Syndrome research. “Rett Syndrome. From the patient to the laboratory, a round-trip path” is the title of this conference for researchers, sanitary professionals, and families.
The Rett Syndrome is a congenital rare disease with neurological affection, clinically manifested mainly in girls. It haves an approximate incidence of 1:15,000 in Europe. The first recognizable symptoms appear between the 6th and 18th month of life and they are characterized by the progressive loss of motor and cognitive skills.
During the symposium, many trend topics will be approached as the genetic diagnosis of the disorder, its management in the clinical context, the study of cerebral maps, the current state of the research, the existing therapeutic strategies or patient’s transition into adulthood. Finally, a roundtable will be moderated by Dr. Àngels García-Cazorla (Rett Syndrome Study Group of SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital and CIBERER).
